Mary can finally make ends meet every month.
Mary Rayappan is a mother who struggles to make ends meet for her family. Her husband left her after they had a child and she had to raise her daughter on her own.
She began to take up stitching jobs to earn some money. Over time, she started working at at garment factory. She hardly earned enough to pay her daughter's fees.
Her situation got worse when her mother was diagnosed with diabetes and her father began to develop age related issues. Their medical treatment became an added responsibility to her regular expenses.Every rupee she earned had to be spent to simply get through a day. Even then, the family never had enough.
When Modern Educational Social & Cultural Organization discovered her, they enrolled her in their ration kit program. They started to give her a kit of rice, wheat, sugar, oil and lentils every month. When her basic food requirements were met, she was able to look after her family with the remainder of her income.
