Every monthly donation helps more villages get access to clean water
Gangadevi is a resident of Banshipura village in Sambhar, Jaipur district. She lives in a joint family of 20 members. As rainfall is very scant in the area, the wells and handpumps become dry in summers. Gangadevi and her children walk close to 5 km every day to fetch water.
While a few wells were available in the village, the well owners harassed the poor families. Gram Chetna educated them on the benefits of having a tank where they could collect rainwater and use it during summer. Gangadevi, being an SHG member herself came forward for construction of the tank at her house.
After the construction of the tank, Gangadevi's family and her neighbors are very happy. The women now use the time saved productively to earn more for their family.
