Help a child stay in school

You can stop a child like Farheen from leaving school.

Farheen was 11 years old when her mother died from tuberculosis. Her father did not know how to look after her and her four siblings so he abandoned them. The children started to live with their grandmother.

Her grandmother lived in a slum and had no earning. She could not afford the education of five children and so Farheen had to leave school. The family was thinking of sending Farheen to work as a labourer to help earn some money. Over a short span of time, her world had crumbled in on her.

Empowering Minds noticed Farheen and decided to enroll her in their school. They counselled her grandmother and told her why it was important to send Farheen to school. They made sure that she had her grandmother's support to continue education.

They also gave her uniforms and books so that she had everything she would need to keep going to school. Today, Farheen enjoys school and is a bright student. She has the chance to build a different future for herself because of her education.

Poor children like Farheen can continue in school if their families have some financial help to ease their burden. You can make this difference for them by donating for their uniforms and school supplies. You can give with confidence because every program on our platform is GIVEASSURED.

Program Description

EMSRD designed a Sponsor-A-Child program for the school dropouts children in urban slums of Ghaziabad and Gorakhpur. The parents of the children come from a very poor background and do not have a steady income. The beneficiaries come from the destitute families whose earnings are Rs 3000-4000 per month and they work as rickshaw pullers, auto drivers etc.

The school is situated in the same locality where these children come from for easy access. The eligible beneficiaries are identified through surveys. The school runs both formal and non-formal classes. It also has a computer room and a library. Many times children discontinue school as they cannot afford the cost of uniforms, books and other supplies.

EMSRD provides school supplies to the children to avoid dropouts.A donation to this program can help in re-enrolling a child back into school and save their education.
