Program Description

Asha Kiran runs an initiative to help elderly destitute women, below the poverty line, living alone in remote rural villages prone to natural disasters like floods and cyclones. This initiative focuses on providing the women basic necessities and rebuilding their morale.

The Asha Kiran field staff interacts with the village committee and the local panchayat and identify and shortlist elderly women. They then assess the needs of the short-listed women. Most of them don't have the money to buy the monthly rations. These women are provided with monthly groceries like rice, lentils etc as well as basic clothes and blankets. Monthly meetings with them and free medical and cultural programs are also conducted to improve quality of life.

Asha Kiran helps close to 200 grandmas with this initiative. This help is provided through donations raised. When you donate to this program, a helpless grandma finds hope in her last days.
