Educate an underprivileged child in Kashmir

Thank you!

This program is fully funded because of donors like you.

Impact

Every monthly donation helps to educate more children like Taliya

Taliya Noor's father earns approximately Rs. 1500/- ($24) per month. He was unable to make ends meet and take care of a family of five. CHINAR met her family and selected for the Remote Child Sponsorship Program (RCSP).

Through the program monetary help was provided for the school expenses including books, school fees, stationery, uniforms etc. Taliya was then able to continue her studies. She is now in class 7 and happy to continue her studies in her school with her best friends.

Due to this aid, Taliya's education was saved and she can now look forward a better future. Supporting the fees and essentials of a child in Kashmir can help in building the future of an underserved state.

Program Update

Under this particular Program CHINAR provides assistance to the most vulnerable and underprivileged children of Kashmir belonging to different communities and cultures who are being selected after proper verification of their condition from their respective localities and schools. The beneficiaries are being provided monthly monetary support in the form of School fee, School uniform, Books, Stationary, Food and Medicine. Our Program Monitors make visit to these beneficiaries from time to time in-order to remain updated regarding their progress, needs and necessities and to check the impact of our intervention on their lives and above all to assess our future course of action. This program also ensures that the basic needs of the child are met and that his/her education does not suffer.

Story from the field

Mediha Rafiq one of our beneficiary residing at Baghat, Barzulla is an orphan. She is living along with her mother and brother at her maternal aunt's there as they have no other place to live in. The family is living life like nomads. Her father died on 4-7-2013 and after his death the family becomes entirely dependent on outside help as he was the only earning member. Since then Mediha's mother is suffering from Depression which had a very negative impact on Mediha's development as a child. After losing her father Mediha finds it very difficult to continue her studies as the family hardly made their two ends meet and in such circumstances Mediha was left with no other option but to give up her studies. In Jan 2018 her mother approached CHINAR described her condition and asked for help, CHINAR on hearing the plea from her mother and after visiting there decided to enroll her in our Program.

"CHINAR Kashmir brings new ray of hope in our lives, my mother like all other mothers wants me to be happy and achieve success in life"(Mediha).

Mediha is currently studying in 9th standard and now it’s been a year since she is associated with our Program and getting all the benefits.

Program Update

CHINAR Kashmir helps destitute and less fortunate children in their on-going daily struggle for improving the quality of their lives, through education, which is being achieved under our Remote Child Sponsorship Program (RCSP). This program has been growing in strength and getting scaled up every year.

It needs to be mentioned here that six of our RCSP children have passed class 10th examination this year, with remarkable performance, an achievement we all are proud of.

Under this Donation Option, we help beneficiaries, by providing them all educational expenses and monthly monetary help to cover their basic needs.

Story from the field

Omer Bashir, lost his father when he was in 1st Standard. At that time he even did not know what the loss of a father means to a child. CHINAR Kashmir identified Omer's family and decided to help Omer's family as they had lost the only earning member and had no clue about how to take care of needs of the family. Omer's mother has to feed 4 children including Omer and had no idea about how to do it. CHINAR's support not only helped to continue schooling of Omer but proved to be an emotional support to the family who were shattered by losing their much beloved family member. Omer is now a class 7th student and is doing well in studies and CHINAR continues to support him to become a well educated and a responsible person of the society.

In an effort to reach out to more children, CHINAR has worked really hard to enroll nineteen more children in need of support into the Remote Child Sponsorship Programme this year. Eight of their earlier beneficiaries from this programme also cleared their 10th and 12th class Board Exams with flying colors. A few of these students were felicitated by CHINAR for their exemplary performance. Apart from providing their beneficiaries with financial help, CHINAR also helps them in other ways- one of the students was given financial assistance for undergoing squint surgery.
