‘Quality education is the only ladder that we can provide these rural children to help them and their families climb out of the vicious cycle of poverty.’ – Sadhguru, Founder

Isha Vidhya is the rural education initiative of Isha Foundation, which provides high-quality school education to underprivileged rural children. 8 Isha Vidhya schools (7 in Tamil Nadu and 1 in Andhra Pradesh) are creating a bright future for 4,050 rural children – many of whom are first-generation school-goers. 58% of them are on full scholarships. Highly subsidized noon meals are also provided.

English-medium, computer-aided education is augmented by a holistic approach where academic excellence is combined with attention to sports, arts & crafts, environmental awareness, health and Yoga. A transformation is brought about in almost every aspect of a child’s life and in parental attitudes to education as well. Most students learn basic hygiene only in the school. Mid-day meals prepared using salt fortified with 11 essential micro-nutrients address malnutrition. For many children, this is their only good meal of the day.

Other objectives of the schools include actively promoting education of girls and increasing educational awareness in rural communities, while striving to preserve village identities and culture.

Noted individuals including Deepak Satwalekar, former MD of HDFC & HDFC Standard Life, Ad Guru Prahlad Kakkar, Ravi Venkatesan, Independent Director at Infosys and former Chairman of Microsoft India, serve on our Board of Trustees and Advisory Committee.

Some of our major sponsors include reputed organisations like Infosys Foundation, Apollo Hospitals Group, LIC of India, Tata Motors, SBI Life, Cognizant Foundation, HP and many others.

Isha Vidhya invites committed individuals and corporates to partner us in changing the face of rural education. Donations are eligible for tax benefits under sec 80G. Below are some immediate requirements of the schools:
