IN a rare instance of nonprofit mergers, Small Change has joined forces with Give, India’s first and largest giving platform – to scale giving from ordinary citizens and make a meaningful impact on alleviating poverty. Both organisations only raise funds for nonprofits.

The two platforms pooling together is a result of their mission alignment to scale everyday giving in India by connecting donors to trusted nonprofits. All 63 NGOs supported by Small Change will continue to be supported under the Give banner.

Founded by former journalist Sara Adhikari, the Small Change online donations platform, SmallChange.ngo launched in 2016, uses a storytelling approach to raise awareness and funds for Indian nonprofits from individual donors.

Channelize strengths

Commenting on the development, Adhikari said, “At Small Change, our vision is to make giving an everyday reality. Give being the largest giving platform has made and continues to make deep impact in this regard through their online giving options and corporate and platform partnerships. We believe that being part of Give will help us at Small Change channelize our strengths to drive this impact.”

Giving as a practice in India is gaining significant momentum with the increased awareness of poverty-related issues. Leading daily-usage consumer platforms are also taking up the cause to raise donations towards trusted Indian nonprofits. Give has powered several such cause-marketing initiatives with Flipkart, Ola, CRED, PhonePe, BigBasket, Ease My Trip and more. Today, Give enables over 1,000 nonprofits in India.

Exciting time

Atul Satija, CEO of Give, said, “Our vision is to build a thriving everyday philanthropy ecosystem. It is very heartening to find that there is an increased interest in giving and is further bolstered by the ease in digital payments. It is an exciting time for Small Change to join Give and our mission to alleviate poverty by enabling giving at scale.”

In May 2018, crowdfunding platform LetzChange also merged with Give, the combined entity widening the choice of causes, nonprofit projects and geographies for donors.

Established in 2000, Give is India’s most trusted giving platform and has facilitated donations of over ₹400crore to verified nonprofits across India from 1M+ donors, impacting 4M+ lives across India.
