We welcome our new PRG members

SPOTLIGHT: Giving Matters at YES Bank
saurov-ghosh YES BANK is one of India's fastest growing private sector banks providing a host of products and services to corporate and retails customers. This month we find out how the organisation excels in engaging its employees through the various CSR initiatives.

We had the pleasure of interacting with Ms. Namita Vikas, Senior President and Country Head, Responsible Banking.

As the Chief Sustainability Officer, Namita spearheads Sustainable Development and CSR, thus driving sustainability principles within its core operations and its value chain towards creating stakeholder value. She tells us about various platforms adopted to promote giving culture, challenges faced and the road ahead.

Designing Philanthropy for Impact
philanthropy-for-impactA white paper on philanthropy - "Designing Philanthropy for Impact: Giving to the biggest Gaps in India" - was brought out recently by McKinsey, with help from GiveIndia.

While there is significant dialogue in India today on the amount of money donated or the quantum of philanthropy, and some early attention to ensuring high quality execution and measurement, there is very little focus on an important step in between - making thoughtful choices on "where" and "how" to give, i.e. which causes or sectors to give to, and what should be the mode of intervention. This paper hopes to make "designing for impact" integral to the dialogue on philanthropy in India.

It assesses the biggest gaps in philanthropy in India currently, in terms of both sectors/sub-sectors or causes, and modes of intervention, and provides some ideas on how to make choices along these dimensions. The paper is based on extensive analyses, interviews with over 50 donors, experts and implementer and an outside-in study of 20+ case examples.
