GiveIndiashowcasesDharavi : A Slum Tour

dharavi-slumFriday,13thApril :Twelve SPOCsfrom theMumbai based Payroll Givingcompaniescame together foran exploration of Dharavislums. Whilewe facilitated the tour for generating more awareness and exposuretowards the livelihood opportunities at Dharavi, what the SPOCsexperienced was clearly more than mere observation.

The SPOCsvisited the recycling areas andunderwent the processes of dyeing, recycling of plastic, tin, soap andcardboard. At the business areas, they saw operations of bakery andpottery and at the residential areas, they witnessed papad making, manufacture of hindu temples and interacted with the children at thecomputer and kindergarten centres. The exploration ended with areflection session over which SPOCs shared their experiences, networkedwitheach other and promisedto bring down such an experience to their employees.

On beingasked about their key take away, all SPOCs admitted that theexploration was indeed a differentexperience and we, atGiveIndia, couldn’t be happier :-) ! Cheers to allour SPOCs for making Payroll Givinghappen at their organizations!!

GiveIndia thanks TiC
