Mobile health without borders
A 3 months course on health and medicine that aims to provide a platform for participants to increase their capacity to have a meaningful impact on global health. The course prepares us for the Health Innovation Challenge, an opportunity to work with a global multi-disciplinary team and world-class mentors to design a solution to a health challenge we care about. Neerja Bhanot Award 2013
Nominations (Hindi / English)are called for the prestigious Neerja Bhanot Awards 2013. The Award comprises Rs 1,50,000, a trophy and a citation, given to an Indian woman who, when subjected to social injustice like dowry, desertion etc., faces the situation with guts and grit AND then helps women in similar social distress. The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce Iinvites nominations for the Indo-American Corporate Excellence Awards 2013 (I-ACE Awards 2013) to celebrate corporate excellence. Indian Companies eligible for nomination are those that have operated for a minimum of two years in the US. American companies eligible for nomination are those that have operated in India for a minimum of two years and are either a subsidiary of a US Company or are managed and controlled by a US Company. Deadline to apply June, 7th 2013.

It's Exam Results Season once again! 92% of the visually challenged students from Indian Association for the Blind have passed the exams with flying colors -52% of them in distinction and 36% in first class. School Topper Mahesh Raja and Nagaraj have scored 85%.

Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar School has secured 97% pass in 12th Grade and 100% pass in 10th Grade examinations. They are all orphan or destitute or poor children and first generation school goers with dreams to become teachers, doctors and chartered accountants in future

GiveIndia Annual Get Together

Last month we had sent an invite to our NGO partners for the Annual Get Together dinner on 30th May, 2013. The event had a  good participation from the NGO and the corporate sector. We would like to convey our thanks to all the speakers and participants who travelled from across the country for being there and help us revisit the memories of the past 13 years.

TraininginCorporate does it again for GiveIndia!

On the 31st of May and 1st of June, GiveIndia was away at its annual offsite. These two days gave teams a chance to share their learning for the year as well as their plans for the coming year. And we promise you that we are working towards bettering the services we offer you as well as our donors :-).

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dilnawaaz Irani, associate trainer from Training inCorporate. Training inCorporate specializes in employee training programs, all of which are designed with take-away techniques. She held a fun-filled and insightful training session for the staff of GiveIndia. Do check them out if your think your staff needs some team-building or even for an NGO vision/mission-think-through exercise.

Empowering NGO partners to go Global

Funds from UK/US donors can be an asset for most NGOs. While these foreign donors can make a significant contribution, the frequency of donations can be less due to no face to face interaction with NGOs. With the GiveIndia Standing Instructions (SI) programme, NGOs can have UK/US donors donate a fixed amount monthly. Mumbai's first hospital for children

An altruistic streak among Mumbaikars will help launch the city's first super-specialty hospital meant only for children. Through a donation drive by GiveIndia, a dozen of Mumbai's families and corporate houses have pitched in to build the hospital which will come up at Haji Ali, Mumbai in the next two years. Heavy penalties for delayed FCRA returns

Government will impose hefty penalties on delayed filing of FCRA returns.


Penalty (higher of)

1-90 days

2% of receipts


91-180 days

3% of receipts

Rs. 20,000

More than 180 days

5% of receipts


For delays beyond 180 days, you also have to pay additional penalty of Rs.500 per day of delay.
