A successful blood donation camp was organized at St. Stephen's College, Delhi on the 22nd March 2011 by our partner NGO SAPNA in collaboration with BloodConnect (IIT Delhi) and JDSKS and the Blood Bank Team from AIIMS . A total of 157 units of blood were collected. The donors were provided with refreshments by SAPNA.

SAPNA also celebrated the International Women’s day with the Mahila Salah Evam Suraksha Kendra (MSSK), Alwar (Rajasthan) and other sister organizations in the district like IBTADA, Nirvan Foundation, Jan Sambhal Sansthan,  Parivar Seva Sansthan. Women turned up in large numbers to participate many competitions. There was an exhibition focusing on issues like family planning, health care, handicrafts and child helpline.

The Bank Employees Women's Association of Davangere, Karnataka honoured  Ambika, with Woman of the Year 2011. She is the staff of our partner NGO Samveda Research and Development Centre.  As a warden, she has been delivering her duties for special children with a radiant smile and affection.

On April 2nd, 2011, AmeriCares India Foundation will be hosting the second edition of the ‘Spirit of Humanity Awards’ in Mumbai to recognize and honor those doing exemplary work in the healthcare sector among the poor and needy in India. There are 10 categories and 115 completed applications. Winners from each category will be awarded Rs.1 lakh, the Spirit of Humanity trophy and a Certificate of Excellence. As many as 10 of our listed NGOs have been shortlisted. Click on the link to view them.

MeraDoctor - a 24/7 phone health service designed to serve the needs of the vast majority of Indians who lack access to quality primary care services, health education, and counseling.  MeraDoctor is currently offered in Marathi, Hindi and English and to selected Mumbai NGOs at free of cost. NGOs who can distribute about 1000 vouchers and communicate with their significantly large number of low income families in urban / rural areas free of cost can avail this offer. The India Tax Saving Challenge 2011 has come to an end!

NGOs reached out to their supporters and raised funds for their cause - getting rewarded for their efforts in turn, through matching grants from us.  Over 100 NGOs participated in this event and a whopping amount of Rs.52 lacs was raised from over a thousand donors. Matching grants to the tune of Rs.35 lacs were given to the top fundraising NGOs. Visit this link for the list of winners. JGW NGO workshop, Mumbai Apr11, 2011

ConnectIT Day (24th March) in Bangalore

The ConnectIT Day, attended by more than 60 participants from NGOs across Karnataka,  showcased some of the best practices and use of IT for development. Mr. Mahantesh, Founder Managing Trustee of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, our partner NGO, captivated the audience with his lucid presentation of using technology for the visually impaired. The main agenda covered the discussion on how to Harness IT for increasing productivity and how to Level web 2.0 for social cause.

The next free IT training workshop for NGOs from NASSCOM Foundation will be held from April 18 to 21 in Mysore. Over 1200 NGOs have so far undergone these intensive four-day hands-on training programmes in the use of MS Office and social media. Payroll Giving Update
Introduced in 2004, our Payroll Giving is a unique programme for corporate employees to support NGOs of their choice by setting aside a small sum from their salary every month, to donate at a later date; making it possible to donate without feeling the pinch. We are happy to share with you that today more than 40,000 employees across 70 companies are a part of this initiative. CMC becomes the 21st company to sign up this year.
