Vishwas Trust will conduct 4 days Trainers training in Hubli from 8th to 12th April and depute 5-6 aspiring candidates to become master trainers for their EDP trainings. Candidates with a minimum basic degree, reading and writing knowledge in Kannada, from banking, corporate or NGO sector, interested to organize outdoor trainings and serve the poor are preferred. As you know, we launched the Donation Option Optimization activity in May last year for the first 100 NGO partners. We have successfully completed DOOP for over 60 NGOs and donors have responded very positively to donation options for NGOs that completed this process. While some are actively completing the exercise there are many who have not responded at all and others started the process but despite several reminders have not completed the same. We urge those that need to respond do so immediately.

The first India Tax Saving Challenge came to an end. We would like to thank all the NGOs who participated for their efforts in making it a success. While we are yet in the process of clearing pending cheques and other transactions, the event has raised Rs. 30 lacs+ through 1,000+ donors so far! 

Some of the daily prize winners were - Parivaar Education Society, Operation ASHA, New Life, Society of Friends of the Sassoon Hospitals (SOFOSH), IBTADA. They, along with a few others, will receive a share of the Rs. 25 lacs of matching grant that was on offer, as prizes for the challenge. Details of the daily prize winners are available. Do visit the same page again on March 30th to see the winners of the final prize!

For all those who were part of this event, we would love to hear your experience about the challenge - how you went about raising funds, what difficulties you encountered, what you feel you or we could have done better etc - anything that you'd like to share. This will go a long way in helping us hold better challenges in the coming years.

GuideStar India is pleased to invite NGOs to the Rajasthan series of "ConnectIT Day"(20th April, Jaipur), a curtain raiser for a series of capacity building workshops in IT titled 'ConnectIT workshops' conducted by NASSCOM Foundation. There will be two ConnectIT workshops in Jaipur:12th - 14th April & 21st - 24th April. Participants have to make their own arrangements for stay and travel.

Ms. Thelma Pereira from Muktangan who attended the Maharashtra workshop says, "Overall, the instructional and hands-on training imparted to us was very educative, informative and effective. I am now confidently looking forward to upgrading my IT skills from the current Windows 2003 to Windows 2007. Joy Of Giving Week 2010 will be celebrated from Sep 26th to Oct 2nd, 2010. NGOs can build it into their fundraising calendar and plan for events while carrying out your annual planning exercise.

IDEA Foundation  is one of the recipients of the ‘Outstanding Annual Report Awards-2010”, a national level competition instituted by CSO Partners in association with Financial Management Service Foundation (FMSF), Credibility Alliance (CA) and Spatial Access Advertising Consultancy (SAAC). The Award ceremony was held on March 6, 2010 at New Delhi. Idea recived a trophy and Rs. 1 lac as prize money.  The reports were judged based on Financial reporting, transparency and effective communication.
