Special Khel Maha Kumbh

Blind Welfare Council, Dahod has pleasure in informing that 120 athletes with mental disability had participated in the State torunament of Khel Maha Kumbh held at Sadara near Gandhinagar. Different events like athletics, cycling, volleyball, basket ball, swimming, cricket, badminton, table tennis etc were held. 89 medals were won with details as follows: Gold 47,silver 24, bronze 18.

TIMES NOW and Mahindra Rise came together for the second time to award the ordinary Indians who have their extraordinary stories to tell for the Amazing Indian Awards. Mobile Creches for Working Mother's Children was chosen a winner in "Together we can" Category which honors individuals from different walks of life, who have come together to create a movement.

India Tax Saving Challenge 2013

The India Tax Saving Challenge 2013 has gotten off to a flying start on 12th February, 2013. Over 80 NGOs have registered and raised over Rs. 15 lacs so far. The competition will go on until the 14th March 2012, rewarding top performing NGOs with additional funds. The matching grants to be provided amount to Rs.16 lacs.

iVolunteer Awards  2013

The iVolunteer Awards recognizes the contribution of volunteers and organizations who engage them and raises awareness around volunteering by sharing stories that ‘inspire by example’ and creates an environment that will encourage more people to volunteer.

Application are open for the Volunteer Hero category for Individual applicants and the Leader in Volunteer Engagement category for NGO applicants. Volunteer Hero, 2012 will get a chance to attend the “Points of Light's Conference” on Volunteering and Service (Jun'13)- one of the world's largest conference on volunteer service and will be held in Washington, D.C. The award for the Leader in Volunteer Engagement is Rs 1 lakh.

Azim Premji - The Leading Indian Philanthropist

Azim Premji has become the first Indian to sign up for the Giving Pledge. The Giving Pledge is a commitment by the world's wealthiest individuals and families to dedicate the majority of their wealth to philanthropy. "I strongly believe that those of us, who are privileged to have wealth, should contribute significantly to try and create a better world for the millions who are far less privileged. I will continue to act on this belief”, says Premji. He pledges Rs.12500 crores to Gates Buffet charity thereby donating $2.2 billion or 12% stake in his IT company Wipro (translating to 295.5 million shares) to a trust through Azim Premji Foundation.
