WISE – World Innovation Summit is aglobal collaborative initiative started in the year 2009 under theleadership of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson ofQatar Foundation. It is the first major global award to recognize anoutstanding, world-class contribution to education. The WISE Prize forEducation Laureate receives an award of $500,000 (US) and a gold medal.In 2012, Dr. Madhav Chavan, co-founder and CEO of Pratham became the2nd WISE Prize for Education Laureate. We are all aware of the ongoing unprecedented drought in Maharashtra(India). The situation is likely to turn more difficult as the summerseason advances. Two of our listed Tier I NGOs who are working towardsdrought relief in rural Maharashtra don't have Donation Options relatedto this program. A study by GiveIndia on donations according to demographics andgeographies throws up some interesting trends. The southern zonecarried the maximum weightage of 43% of donor population, While westhas the maximum share of the total donation amount (42%), followed bysouth at 39%. On the other hand, east gave the least, with only 3% oftotal donation amount and merely 5% of donor population. Northcontributed 16% of total donations by amount.
