Education gets a helping hand
Matching CampaignA donor, who has chosen to remain anonymous, has decided to support India’s education in a big way. When we say big, we mean BIG!

Every donation you make to The Akshaya Patra Foundation and Shoshit Seva Sangh this month will be equaled by this generous donor. Each of these organisations are determined to educate unfortunate children in our country. The Akshaya Patra Foundation, with their mid-day meal program, ensures that children stay in school. On the other hand, Shoshit Seva Sangh has taken it upon themselves to educate the Musahar tribe, who are India's poorest.

High Value Donor Events
Giving CircleIn the month of February, GiveIndia held 3 events for its High Value donors (i.e. individuals who have made donations of Rs. 5 lakhs and above towards a project of their choice) - Giving Circle, Slum Walk and a Signature Workshop.
The Giving Circle brought together 12 individuals from 3 different families, under one roof, to learn about the activities of 3 NGOs working for children. These were St. Jude India ChildCare Centres, Vidhayak Sansad and Mumbai Mobile Creches. The interactive session gave donors the opportunity to direct their questions straight to the NGOs and inturn get a better understanding of their work; after which, they collectively took a decision on the NGO they wished to support together. The Signature Workshop gave participants an opportunity to listen to evolved philanthropists speak about Engaged Philanthropy and their experiences with the same. One of the speakers had been involved with the Akshaya Patra Foundation. The Slum Walk was a walk through Dharavi, Asia's largest slum. Getting a hands on experience of the level of poverty in the city, this event was an eye opener for individuals and families of the First Givers Club.
