October 15, 2006 dawned on Delhi as a bright cool morning. 30,000

people ran the marathon that morning. Some ran for fun, some for the

challenge of the sport but many because they believed they could make a

difference – and they did! A total of Rs12.19 million was raised for over 30

NGOs.

Anjolie Ela Menon, one of India 's leading contemporary artists, painted

live her rendition of the start of the Great Delhi Run. This painting has

been sold for Rs2.1 million and the proceeds have gone to SPRAT

(Society for the Promotion of Rational Thinking), an NGO she supports.
