GiveIndia hosted an event on November 17, 2006, to celebrate the listing of 14 Indian NGOs that were most recently certified by us. The purpose of the event was:
- Mainstreaming the idea of market mechanisms in philanthropy and the concept of "listing" NGOs on a philanthropy exchange and getting thought leaders to appreciate this paradigm.
- To introduce these NGOs to a select group of sensitive opinion leaders and give them an opportunity to engage with issues in greater depth.
- To 'recognize' these NGOs for having recently undergone the process of listing with us successfully, thereby achieving a significant milestone in their efforts to become efficient and transparent organizations.
