GiveIndia Solution

• At the start of the engagement, GiveIndia did not have an orphanage which met the required characteristics

• Focused on child education

• Receptive to donor engagement and advice

• Give India identified an appropriate orphanage in Navi Mumbai

• Researched NGOs across the country • Due diligence was taken up.
The donor currently provides comprehensive care (about INR 20 lacs annually) and supports 50 abandoned girls.

NRI Donor Supporting a Project to Provide Drinking Water to a Village

“The bund has been built and will get filled with water as the region receives rain. This will ensure a constant supply of drinking water to Kothala village and ensure that water scarcity is greatly reduced. Also the women will now be able to use the time previously spent in collecting water in other productive activities, such as maintaining a kitchen garden, which will improve the nutritional status of their family”

-Anuradha project co-ordinator
GiveIndia Solution

• Time was a critical factor in this case as the donor approached us in Feb and there is an acute water shortage in the summer months

• Moreover, the donors budget was not sufficient for the results that she expected

• We made the donor aware of the above factors and she raised the budget to Rs. 2 lacs

• We then identified projects with two NGOs, one in Pune and the other in Thane

• As the NGO in Pune was not that responsive and since time was a critical factor, we convinced the donor to support the project in Thane

• She finally supported Bridge Trust to work on rain water harvesting to get rid of the water scarcity in Kothala Village, Sholapur Taluka, Thane District

• The project was implemented quickly (April to mid May)
