Chief Operating Officer

As GiveIndia aims to reach a rate of engaging at least 1 million donors a year in 2 years from now, we're looking for a COO to lead the execution efforts in this direction. The COO will report to the CEO/Director and be responsible for the entire organisation.

This is a chance to take a wonderful organisation to the next level in terms of scale, by deepening relationships, alliances with organisations that GiveIndia already works with, like ICICI, HDFC, Kotak and Yes Banks, the Zee, Viacom, Star, NDTV networks, ecom entities like MakeMyTrip, PayTM, Snapdeal, etc., and hundreds of other Indian corporates, as well as 200+ NGO partners across India. It is an opportunity to lead an organisation entirely, with a lot of operating freedom, zero politics or hidden agendas. You can contribute significantly to creating a giving culture in India, by taking on difficult challenges head-on.

The right candidate would have the following attributes-
High energy & drive, able to immerse fully in the job in a hands-on manner, working alongside the various SBU heads. The person will have to work spreadsheets and do analytics with the ecommerce team, sit with accounts & ops and help them do reconciliations when they are stuck, go out into the field with the payroll and Alliance sales teams and sell, etc. In many ways, it is like being a COO/CEO in a startup, even though the organisation is 16 years old. Seasoned managers and leaders who will only provide vision, direction and guidance will NOT be suitable for this role.
Suitable candidates are very likely to be less than 40yrs old, could even be as young as 28-30
A B-school degree from the IIMs/ISB/XLRI or an Ivy League school, or a BTech from the top 5 IITs/NITs is very important.
Strong skills in marketing and good understanding of "web technologies"/digital marketing tools are highly desirable. Candidate must have experience of working in a web based B2C portal/organisation, or in an FMCG/B2C environment, or in a top strategy consulting firm like McKinsey, Bain or BCG
Must have some "team management expertise" (shd have handled direct reportees under her/him for at least 2 years).
Mumbai based or willing to relocate to Mumbai.
Compensation will be reasonable and on par with other non-profits of similar size and scale. Candidates from the corporate sector should be willing to take a cut of more than 50% in their CTC.

Some types of candidates who would work for us-
Founders/cofounders/ senior team members of failed digital startups or startups that have been sold
Category heads or Senior Mgt in marketing in Unilever, P&G, Reckitt, Pepsi/Coke type cos, who are young and very comfortable with social media tools, digital campaigns, etc.

Technical Solutions Engineer

GiveIndia has a great opportunity for a "Technical Solutions Engineer", reporting to our CTO. This is a chance to use technology to create significant change and impact the lives of millions of poor people every year. You will work with a lot of operating freedom and responsibility at an early stage in your career. The candidate will take technical responsibility for the GiveIndia.org website and work alongside the dev team to ensure that-

All our code is architected with high levels of object orientation

Feedback Manager - Credibility Assurance Team

GiveIndia is looking for a young person (22-28 years) who can manage our feedback process. For every donation made on our platform, we send the donor a feedback report with details of how it impacted someone's life, along with some financial information and beneficiary data. We work with 200+ NGOs spread across 21 states and process close to a lakh donations every year. That means we have close to one lakh feedback reports that are sent to donors! We are looking for someone with excellent communication and managerial skills who will be able to drive the feedback process end to end. In doing so, there is an opportunity to improve engagement with donors through higher quality content. In terms of the role the person will need to,

1. Build a rapport with NGOs through regular interactions
2. Rigorously follow up to ensure timely submission of feedback reports, and track the same
3. Understand the NGOs' programmes; work with their staff to write engaging stories on a need basis
4. Occasionally visit NGOs, take pictures and create videos of the NGOs' work & beneficiaries, leaders, etc. and blog about them.
5. Learn new Indian languages :-) and pick up a lot of skills

The ideal candidate should have

Relationship Manager - Credibility Assurance Team

We offer a wonderful opportunity for a young person (21-28 years) who is eager to learn about the social sector and enjoys travel. S/he will handle a basket of NGOs balancing dual responsibilities of fundraising as well as due diligence. S/he will also get to travel 5-10 days a month across rural and urban India, visiting 5-10 NGOs and their work. The person will get to meet some amazing founders and their teams, understand the challenges that our country faces, "get inside the machinery" in each org to see how they operate, etc. This can be amazing for anyone who wants to eventually set up their own nonprofit or come up with solutions to India's social issues- very rarely, if at all, do people get this kind of exposure.

Education & Professional Experience Required
Be responsible for the due diligence of 40-60 NGOs from across the country
Visit some NGOs across the country understanding their work, conduct due diligence/verifications, meet founders, Board members, programme execs, beneficiaries, etc.
Take pictures and create videos of the NGOs' work & beneficiaries, leaders, etc. and blog about them
Consult with NGOs on best ways to use GiveIndia platform to raise funds

The ideal candidate should have
Very good communication skills in English and as many other Indian languages as possible (preferably at least 2-3 other languages)

GiveIndia is a donation platform that allows visitors to support a cause of their choice from 200+ NGOs that have been screened for credibility and transparency. GiveIndiawas set up in 2000 and has scrutinized over 5,000 NGOs to date. It has channeled more than Rs. 500 cr from a million people during this time and it has done so at a cost of 9.1% (vs an industry standard of 30-50%). This means that for every Rs. 100 that is donated, GiveIndia retains Rs. 9.1 to meets its cost while passing on Rs. 90.9 to the NGO.

As a mini-CEO, you will pick up a new idea or project and take it from concept to scale. For that you need to have the drive to do something different and believe that an individual can change the world! You should have the hunger to learn about all facets of running a division rather than only Finance or Marketing or Sales. This is what will make you want to become the proud owner of a Rs. 10cr division in 3 years time which was a baby when you came in.

To succeed in this role, you will need a high level of enthusiasm and energy and an ability to work 55-60hr weeks. You will be successful if you show a high degree of execution focus and take ideas from concept to planning to execution in the shortest possible time. The role requires working towards deadlines with a great deal of target orientation.We understand that this maybe more than what you would face at other organizations but we also want you to succeed if you do decide to join us. :)
