This project will provide early intervention services for 60 children (0 to 5 year old) with various developmental disabilities from below poverty line (BPL) and low income group families from areas in and around Tandur in Rangareddy district of Andhra Pradesh.
Developmental disorders account for 5-17% of total population based on various studies. 75% of the Indian population live in rural areas. Services available for person with disabilities in rural areas is almost negligible, amounting to less than 1 %.Realising this, Secunderabad started a Rural Institute for Rehabilitation for the Disabled, Tandur branch in 2005.
