The Project will cover approximately 10 adoption agencies and 100 children. It will work on improving child care standards and competence levels in the agencies. It will create awareness, sensitize (officials/judiciary), and promote adoptions. It will seek resolution of local hurdles and seek policy /procedural changes, as necessary. It will create a networked forum of adoption stakeholders.

Many adoption agencies are located in rural areas where adoption is uncommon particularly that, of the girl child. The children languish in the agencies until the age of 6 and then move into orphanages for a life of sub-optimal care. On the other hand, City parents wait for 2-3 years for a child. Getting the two together meets the requirements of both the waiting children and, the waiting parents.Child care standards at rural agencies need improvement so that the city parent has no hesitation in adopting from there.
