Nisha is a 6 year old girl, the eldest in her family, labouring in the docks alongside her parents to earn additional income. The only skill Nisha?s family has known for generations is to draw in the nets, sort the fish and clean the prawns. Nisha had no opportunity for education given that her day was choked with labour, housework and caring for her baby sister.

We opened a balwadi in Nishas slum community, motivated the parents about the value of education and encouraged them to send their children to school. The parents? mindsets changed positively and now we provide their children an opportunity to experience their childhood and to have a secure and a bright future.

After generations of ignorance, children are trained to read, write & learn through innovative methodologies. On completing their pre-primary education, the teachers personally follow up their continuance in local municipal schools. Hand holding of the child beneficiaries continues through our supplementary education classes. Their nutrition is also supplemented with our inputs.
