Soma Dilip Mal was deceived by her own uncle, kidnapped and consequently forcibly raped several times in a hotel. Soma Dilip Mal was deceived by her own uncle, kidnapped and consequently forcibly raped several times in a hotel. She was 16 years old and was severely traumatized by the incident. After she regained consciousness she found herself in a Mumbai observation home.

Soma was discharged from the observation home within a month. Sahaara staff tracked her familys residence. We built trust with her family members. Through counsel, hope was infused into their hearts and the family started the painful yet liberating journey of overcoming their trauma. We encouraged her to pursue education and financed her college fees and books.

Soma has cleared all her examinations and is pursuing higher studies. She is overcoming the trauma of her horrid past and is rising up with courage to face society. She is optimistic about the rest of her life. She is daring to dream and hope about the future that lies ahead of her.
