Success Story

Ratnamma lives in the slums of Chilakaluripet. Ratnamma lives in the slums of Chilakaluripet. She recently got married and lives with her husband and his family. Their s is one of the slums adopted by ASSIST to improve the sanitary conditions. One day as she went on her routine, she slipped and fell into the darkness. As a consequence, she had a miscarriage. This incident shook her.

Many times ASSIST had advised Ratnamma to construct a toilet. But it was now that she realised the importance of having a sanitary latrine. The fact that she could have averted the loss of her child tormented her. She approached ASSIST and with their help constructed a toilet for her house

She no longer finds it wrong or out of the ordinary to have a toilet in the house. All her family members are using the toilet and no longer have to travel long distances for defecation.
