The Gudalur Adivasi Hospital was set up for the tribals. All the staff too were tribals. The community was encouraged to seek healthcare.

Shanthi had a high fever from a huge breast abscess. She had walked six miles to board a bus to the hospital. She may have been yet another mother that died. With the faith of many of the tribal community in the healthcare system well established now, things have changed. Shanthi is now educating others in her village.
