Bring happiness to a poor child by sponsoring his/ her birthday celebration-Vizhuthukal Trust
Bring happiness to a poor child by sponsoring his/ her birthday celebration, INR 2750

Vizhuthukal Trust runs various development programs for the welfare of the rural community under Tirunelveli Corporation. One of these is their educational program, through which they support play centres. In a survey that the Trust conducted amongst these children, they learnt that many children had expressed that their wish is to celebrate their birthdays with their friends and family.

How It Works

• The Trust currently has eight children resource centres that cater to 138 children between the age of 5 and 15 years.
• The Trust decided to add celebration of children’s birthdays to their activities.
• If there are more birthdays in a month than the Trust can support, the children decide whose birthday they would like to celebrate.
• Parents are informed of this celebration a day before.
• The Trust goes to the child’s house with clothes and sweets. Sometimes, neighbours are also invited.
• Given limited funds, the same child’s birthday is not celebrated every year.
• The trust celebrated birthday of 24 children in the year 2013-14 with donations from GiveIndia donors.

Sweet memories
Praveen loves to celebrate his birth days from a survey done with the children in our play way method study centre about what they desire the most that they never get in life The first birthday celebration of 6 years old Praveen was a surprise to him, his father Pandian, a scavenger by occupation and his mother Mahalakshmi and two elder brothers. He is studying in our “evening play way education center” in Meenakshipuram of Tirunelveli Corporation Area.
We have known the date of the birthday of Praveen with the help of our tuition center register and informed his parents through our tuition center teacher in the previous day. On the day of his birth day, we entered with the gifts - a set of birthday dress, a full cake, and pocket of Cadburys sweets with a writing table and sweets into his home.
The mother of Praveen welcomed us with a feeling of excitement and shouted his son to come out to receive us. Praveen came out and saw us with packages of gifts. His eyes widened. Speechless and he understood that it is for him. The whole family encircled us and we wished him very great blessings of the day and all through his life. Happy and joy danced in the midst of emotions, the mother and father expressed their gratitude with the dripping pearls of tears. Praveen had not celebrated his birthday like this and Praveen gave the sweets and cake to all neighbors. It was a very happy and remembering day to his family.
