Provide food & clothing to a helpless aged person, INR 1200
 Mail

It is often observed that elderly people in rural areas are ignored and left uncared for by their families. This is because the sole breadwinner finds it difficult to support all his family members including the children owing to their minimal income. Against this backdrop, Vizhuthukal Trust decided to provide food, medicines and clothing to the elderly in the areas in which they work.
How It Works

• The selection of beneficiaries is done by the Trust’s self-help groups based on criteria, such as age, extent of dependence of the person, health, occupation, and family support.
• Priority is given to widows and the destitute.
• This donation will help them reach out to more people.

The Statistics

• There are more than 2,000 old people in the villages that the Trust works in.
• Currently, they support 25-30 elderly people on a month on month basis.
• In the 2013-14, the trust supported more than 350 poor and old people in Tirunelveli.
