Overview

Akhanda Seva for International Shanti is an NGO based in Mysore, which works to improve the lives of destitute children through education.

How It Works

• Special steps have been taken to educate these children. One such step has been to employ teachers to provide tutoring to these children on a regular basis. These teachers are visiting faculty and not resident teachers.
• Each teacher is assigned a group of children. The classes are conducted on a daily basis, including Saturdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
• The children are studying in different standards, ranging from LKG to the 8th standard. • The teachers have been associated with the NGO for more than a couple of years now, and work sincerely to help the children learn and grow.

Statistics

Punctual and well behaved kids
During 2011-2012, w
The school van fees are paid to Deepa Primary and Middle school, which provides excellent education to poor children primarily from the nearby villages. The children benefit by being provided safe and efficient transportation to and from school. The counselor is an added benefit to our children, and provides important emotional and moral support to them during their formative years.
The school van allows the children to attend school safely, and return from school on a timely basis. The counselor has helped our children in many ways. For example, Shanti (5th grade) had trouble focusing on her schoolwork; after the counselor gave her concentration exercises, she experienced a significant improvement in her grades. The counselor has also helped Pallavi open up and be less shy around others; she now interacts well with the other children.
