 Mail

For more than 25 years, ASSIST has been providing support to rural India in the belief that when given a chance, rural communities can find solutions that will bring positive change to their own lives. To this end, ASSIST has identified children from the poorest of families who are unable to attend school due to their parents’ poverty.
How It Works

• ASSIST has identified children from the poorest of families who are unable to attend school due to their parent's poverty.
• Working closely with these families, ASSIST raises awareness of the importance of education.
• ASSIST provides these children schooling either at ASSIST-run schools, known as Transitional Education centers or into a local school.
• The children are enrolled at the age of five and continue to study from 9 AM until 4 PM until the age of 14.
• Throughout this time, ASSIST field staff monitor the students progress and continue to work with the family to ensure that the child remains in school.
