Sponsor a tricycle for a physically disabled poor person, INR 6800
 Mail

Samuha helps physically disabled people lead independent lives. Beneficiaries are identified in disability screenings, weekly clinics, special health camps and Self Help Group (SHG) meetings. There are also referrals from other NGOs, SHGs, hospitals and Government departments for services. Initial assessment is done for each individual beneficiary to ascertain the need and the intervention. Samuha then tries to raise donations and seek grants from donor agencies, Govt. etc. As per the individual's specific need, appliances are either procured from outside or item parts bought and assembled/fitted at the aids-and-appliances production centers run by the organization. Identification and utilization of donation is done in a 6 month period. Project technicians decide on the appliance and fit them. This donation option is specifically for sponsoring a tricycle.

The wheels of empowerment
Andappa was 4 years old when he lost muscle strength in both his limbs due to an attack of polio. This 19 year old resident of Alavandi village was determined to realize his dream of a good education. After successfully completing his Class X and subsequently Class XII despite great physical hardships, he was overjoyed yet disappointed when he was selected for the BEd. programme in Koppal town. Life in the town would pose a far greater challenge.
The first task for SAMUHA was to provide physiotherapy and counseling so that Andappa would not develop secondary problems by improper positioning. Subsequently, a tricycle was manufactured at the disability workshop and provided to him.
Andappa is happy with his improved mobility and is able to concentrate on his course uninterrupted. He has also attained a greater amount of independency in his daily activities.
