Nagalakshmi 18-years-old,belongs to a family of Devadasi in E.G.District of Andhra Pradesh.A man from a neighboring village cheated her in the pretext of marriage and sold her to a brothel in Vijayawada.There she was forced and compelled into prostitution for 2 years.She was then infected with HIV hence thrown out of the brothel.She found that her parents had also expired to add misery to her life

JKWS contacted and counseled her and the community. Considering her aptitude in tailoring and embroidery she was sent to a Mahila Pranganam where she was trained in Tailoring and Embroidery. A small amount was raised to buy a Tailoring Machine, Scissors etc., to run a Tailoring Center. Counseling improved her confidence and she is taking medicines from the PHC regularly.

The SHG of the community gave some loan to her on the assurance of the NGO. Now she is selling saris and blouse pieces in retail. Now she is living in contentment with whatever earnings she is getting out of stitching and selling saris. Her health is also improved. A ray of hope is seen in her eyes.
