Overview

Social Action for Manpower Creation (SAMPARC) directly supports several orphan children at various centres in Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal & Rajasthan. Under its “Education Sponsorship Programme,” the organisation promotes education for needy children in the rural areas of Pune District, Jodhpur, Kolkata and Anjar in Gujarat. SAMPARC also runs a school and hostel for tribal children, a vocational training centre for rural school dropouts, and a medical centre for the rural poor, amongst other activities.

How It Works

• In Maharashtra, at Bhaje, Poynad (Raigad), Shel-Pimpalgaon and Bal Asha Ghar, the organisation provides care, protection and education to orphans and needy children at its children’s Homes.
• Children are provided a family environment to live in, where a housemother takes care of a group of children by fulfilling all their basic needs like food, education and good health.
• All the beneficiaries are identified by the Child Welfare Committee, a Government department, and are admitted in SAMPARC with their commitment order.
• These children attend regular school along with other children of the community; they attend the government school or a private school which is near the children's Home.

Statistics

• 5-18 years – Age range of children at the children’s Home
• 10 – Number of children who are taken care of by the housemother
• 600 – Total number of orphan children who are supported by SAMPARC through their various centres

Success Story
Master Jagdish Ramchandra Mayekar had been admitted to SAMPARC from Mankhurd in 1999. His father was dead and mother was in jail. In this situation he had become self centered and was not talking to anyone. He was also not listening to anyone. Slowly he started showing improvement was getting along with the staff & children in the balgram and started showing interest in studies.
In these circumstances he had been admitted to school but there was no change in his behavior. Initially he did not like to talk to anyone & was not interested in studying properly. He was given counseling and was given confidence at regular intervals that he has a life to look forward to & SAMPARC would give him all the support.
Then onwards he never looked back he always got more than 80% marks in all exams. In S.S.C. he got 80.30%. Not only in studies but he was actively taking part in drawing, painting, sports, N.C.C., Karate etc. Presently after completing his Three year Diploma in Civil Engineering, at Government Polytechnic College, Pen and now he has taken up Civil Engineering Degree Course and he is 2nd year and he is pursuing the course from D Y Patil Engineering College, Talegaon
