" Overview

Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT) has completed another year of its journey towards the promotion of health and environment status, primary education, empowerment of the downtrodden, gender equity and promotion of care and support for the children in need. VHAT initiated their Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Programme for the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in a few blocks of west and south districts of Tripura in 2007.

How It Works

• The project at present is continuing in a few blocks with many PWDS who have been identified including Physically Challenged.
• Among these identified PWDs a good number of them do not have mobility.
• They are mostly from poor rural families.
• There is little effort from the Government to provide mobility devices.
• VHAT, through its trained staff provides physiotherapy and devices to such people.
• To do this VHAT takes the help of the community and local organizations in identifying needy beneficiaries.

Statistics

• 4 – Number of blocks where the project is being continued
• 5 – Number of blocks which are being covered through this Programme
