Sponsor 8 dialyses for poor patients with kidney failure, INR 4000
 Mail

" Overview

MESCO provides aid to patients suffering from kidney disease and in aid of dialysis. MESCO does not recommend or enroll patients in any specific clinic or hospital for treatment but instead asks patients to continue treatment in the dialysis centre where they have been taking treatment.

How It Works

• The money is paid directly to the dialysis centre in advance, at the beginning of every quarter.
• Each year in June and December, the NGO invite the patients on a particular date and time and issues token numbers to them.
• If the number of patients attending the programme is found to be in excess of budgeted numbers, then a lottery is drawn in their presence and the Application Forms are issued to those selected.
• Patients are advised to submit the forms within a stipulated time with requisite documents.
• Field officers visit their homes to verify the details and subsequently applications are selected or rejected by a Committee authorized to do so.
Statistics

• 6 months – Duration of time for which continuous treatment is provided to the selected patients
• 6 months – Duration of time for which patients are supported following the month of application

A struggle for survival
Deepali Patil 35 years old was diagnosed as a case of renal failure when she was a student of Std. X (in 1992). One after the other her both kidneys failed, at this stage her mother donated one of her kidneys to help her daughter survive. After transplant in 2006, unfortunately condition of this kidney also began to worsen and finally it failed to function. Deepali didn’t give up and took dialysis, the only option left for her in order to survive. She started approaching charitable organizations to get the funds for dialysis. Deepali’s family consists of 7 members including her old parents, a brother, his wife and two children and total family income (that of Deepali and her brother) is Rs. 7500/-. Deepali who had completed her diploma in multimedia and web designing had taken up a job, which she had to leave on account of constant health problems and need to continue to seek assistance for dialysis in order to survive.
In December 2010 she approached MESCO for help. Her case has been reviewed and selected for the six months dialysis cost. Each of her dialysis costs Rs.450 at Shri K.V.O. Jain M.S.K. As per the nephrologist she has to carry out 12 dialyses per month, for which we pay Rs.5400 per month.
Deepali with the support of MESCO has been able to continue her dialysis treatment. With the improvement in her health she is back on the job and hopes to live many more years ahead. If we keep on receiving donations constantly she will be relieved of stress of searching for other supporting organizations. Can we do that together?
