Success Story

3-year-old Gudiya, was found on one of the streets of Paharganj, and placed in an NGO called Udayan. 3-year-old Gudiya, was found on one of the streets of Paharganj, and placed in an NGO called Udayan. Frightened, she remembered nothing her name. She was taken for various medical tests and was found HIV positive. Udayan felt they were not equipped to meet the need of an HIV positive child, and so they contacted the Naz Care Home, which is a shelter for orphan children living with HIV.

Gudiya came to us very weak and malnourished and was put under medical supervision of the Naz Doctor and has been put on Anti Retro Viral Therapy. Naz also took care of her special nutritional needs. Gudiya is reserved and shy. Counselors at the Home have been working intensively with her to bring her out of her shell.

She had never been to an educational institution. She got her preliminary lessons from the volunteers at Care Home. She is now attending regular school. Gudiya has gained weight and is looking healthier. She is less shy and participates in all the activities of the school and the Care Home.
