Tropical Research & Development Centre’s (TRDC) Asha Kiran project focuses on enrollment, retention, quality education and child rights in rural Government schools in Ranibennur Taluk, Haveri District, Karnataka.

How It Works

• The NGO supports children from poor families from their 75-bridge/remedial education centres with pen and notebooks.
• Writing is one of the most complex tasks that children engage, using motor and critical thinking skills.
• To write clearly, the children must learn to get proper coordination to hold the pen or pencil, keep the notebook still and apply pressure.
• With proper practice, of repeated movements, they are able to achieve this.
• The pen and notebooks distributed also gives the children a sense of satisfaction.

The Statistics

• In the year 2013-14, 1315 students received the support.
