Provide educational materials to a poor rural child, INR 1300
 Mail

Annai Charitable and Educational Trust runs a program to provide educational support for underprivileged or orphan children. Some of the students selected are studying in their matriculation school or from villages near the school. The school St. Joseph Matriculation School is located in Venthanpatti village of Ponnamaravathi Taluk, Pudukottai District.

Parents of some of the children attending the school are often unable to afford their child’s education. The villagers are migratory laborers, scavengers, mat making weavers or agriculturists who depend on rain. They don't have jobs throughout the year and addicted to alcohol.

How It Works

• The NGO selects villages nearby and prepares a list of students who are eligible to receive the benefit.
• The NGO arranges a common function inviting the parents and children in the village.
• The education kit containing notebooks, uniforms, school bag and shoes are distributed to the children in that village.
• The NGO along with the kit distribution provides awareness to the villagers on health, hygiene and the need for good education for their children

Happy moment of a poor child
Sethupathy is studying in Grade 8. His father Balan is a coolie by profession and is earning Rs. 1,500/- per month. His mother Muthulakshmi is suffering of anemia. Sethupathy has an elder brother who is mentally retarded. The family is living in Melaisivapuri, Ponnamaravathi Taluk, Pudukottai District. Balan was unable to look after his ailing wife and the mentally retarded child. At this stage, Sethupathy was about to become dropout from the school as he had to support the family.
Annai Charitable & Educational Trust came to sense the problem of Sethupathy during a counseling session at the school and consequently visited the family to assess the situation. Accordingly the Trust granted him free education and supplied the required educational materials free of cost from our Trust Funds.
Sethupathy is very happy over the assistance and is now happily continuing his study at our St. Joseph Matriculation School. He performs well in his class tests and terminal examinations. He has an ambition to become an Engineer and look after his family. His father Balan is now relieved of the trouble of educating a child.
