Overview

The Maria Seva Sangha (M.S.S.) is a non-profit organization in Bangalore established in 1981 to undertake educational, medical, housing and other social activities in aid of the poor and the under-privileged of all ages, irrespective of caste, creed and community.

The Basics

Under its “Education Support” programme, M.S.S. aims to reach out to all those poor deserving students who are not able to pursue higher studies due to financial constraints. It further aims to fulfil the basic need of “food,” for these children, as there are hundreds of poverty stricken children who attend school on empty stomachs.

How It Works

• M.S.S. is currently working with a number of government- aided schools in Bangalore and nearby districts.
• The most-deserving students who are identified by the school (on need-cum-merit basis) are provided with fees, books and uniforms.
• Along with these, the students are also provided mid-day meals.
• Scholarships are awarded to the students, which encourages them to continue with secondary education.
• The organization’s team monitors the progress of the students and keeps a check on how the donations are being utilized.
• This donation will be part of the annual scholarship fund for poor secondary students.

Statistics

• 1 – Number of government-aided schools that M.S.S. is working with at Kollegal Taluka
