Neo natal mortality, coupled with Edema often led to miscarriages. Her family was unaware of the nutritional care that a pregnant woman required.

It took a great deal of persuasion to register her with the local health sub centre. She was counseled about dealing with the Edema and throughout her pregnancy, the health worker ensured that she received adequate nutrition and rest. In addition, the health worker ensured that she had regular medical check ups and that her family was supportive of her through her pregnancy.

She gave birth to a healthy girl child. The family was advised on childcare in terms of nutrition, hygiene, immunization and importance of breast-feeding. The couple was also motivated to adopt methods of child spacing and sensitised on gender equality.
