Kutumba has a residential facility for about 25-30 disabled women. Beneficiaries are referred through other NGO's. They are provided food, shelter, and transport-to-school free-of-cost. Many go to the Association for People with Disabilities (APD). They stay with Kutumba for 1- 3 years on an average. Kutumba has hired 5 staff members to take care of all the needs of these young girls, who are aged between 11-28 years. There is also a daycare for 20 children of daily wage workers living in the area; the children come in the morning and have a meal everyday at the centre. The same cook and helpers take care of the day-care children.

Kutumba provides nutrition and care for the young women staying there. The meals are provided keeping in mind that these children, a few of them in their adolescent years. The meals are simple, wholesome including a high protein drink made of lentils and pulses. The children help in the preparation and are given a limited choice within the prescribed menu.
The children very often when they come to us have a mal nourished look about them and find it difficult to conform to the wholesome diet, very often even refusing a high protein diet. However within a short time they conform to the rules and even begin to enjoy the meals. We believe this is also a training ground for their future family life.
