Success Story

Saguna Ramu Bhoye belongs to tribal community from Kelichapada village of Thane District. Saguna Ramu Bhoye belongs to tribal community from Kelichapada village of Jawhar Block of Thane District having 1 acre waste land and 1 acre agriculture land. Agriculture income is dependent on rain. Average annual income for Saguna was Rs.3500 from this. So she was migrating every year along with family to urban area for earning more income. It leads to poor health status of all family and loss of child education.

For the last 5 years we have been working in Kelichapad village. We identified large areas of waste land which belonged to the local farmers. Some were going to the forest to collect seeds like Karanj & Mahuva Seed & sell it in the market. We thought why not plant those trees in the wasteland itself. We provided saplings of these native forest trees. The farmer planted it on his waste land.

Saguna Ramu Bhoye planted 50 karanj trees Plant in her waste land is now giving some income. One karanj tree gives her Rs.200 to 300, yearly incomes. Now her yearly income has increased up to Rs.15000. and family does not migrate.
