Success Story

Life of Deepak fell apart when his advancing cancer forced him to give up work as a daily labourer on a construction site. Life of Deepak fell apart when his advancing cancer forced him to give up work as a daily labourer on a construction site. Like most cancer patients, his disease was detected too late to be cured. In spite of surgery and radiation to his face, he lost his right eye to the growing disease. It was at this stage, that he was referred to CanSupport by the Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital at AIIMS.

Home Care team provided him medicines. As physical and emotional pain of Deepak decreased and his courage and stamina returned, he expressed the desire to get back to work. However, physical labour was now too strenuous for him. CanSupport team came to his aid by finding a willing donor who would help Deepak purchase a push cart, a pair of weighing scales and his first lot of vegetables.

Deepak is now a proud seller of vegetables. With the help of his eldest son, he earns Rs.100-120 a day. No longer is he despondent or dependent. All it took was a donation of Rs. 6000/- to rehabilitate this family which is now back to living a life of dignity.
