M.Sathamma, 62, is a destitute women from Odyaram, Andhra Pradesh. M.Sathamma, 62, is a destitute women from Odyaram, Andhra Pradesh. She had two daughters who got married and settled in other villages. She lost her husband 8 years ago and lives alone. She worked as a labour in agriculture fields. She hardly gets any labour work due to oldage. Apart from other health problems she was also suffering from eye sight problem and could not see properly.

A Social Worker of Sahara visited Sathamma ?s house and her family record was submitted for considering her case for aid. Sahara appealed to donors/other agencies for adoption of Sathamma. Fortunately she got a sponsor to support her livelihood. Sahara did house visits and prepared periodic progress reports which were sent to the sponsors.

With the sponsored amount she got the basic food supplies every month. Besides, she also received support for health care, medicines, clothes twice a year and a monthly pocket amount for recreation and entertainment. Her eyesight has been restored by cataract operation out of sponsorship amount. Now she has got rid of all her worries and leads a peaceful and dignified life.
