A programme called Shiksha Shakti run my CSSAR, is a targeted education programme for underprivileged slum children in which special coaching is provided to school children to improve their education level. The programme complements the school education. Beneficiaries are identified on the basis of their economic status. All the beneficiaries are Below Poverty Line (BPL) under this programme. Teachers are recruited preferably from community. To maintain the quality of education following strategy is adopted: i. Teacher student ratio is 1: 15 ii. Classes are conducted separately for each group means students from Ist and II nd Std are taught separately. iii. Quarterly test is conducted to monitor the progress. iv. Classes are conducted in the slums after school hour. Each class is of one hour duration. Classes are conducted during 2 pm to 7 pm v. Corporal punishment is strictly prohibited.

Pinki Secured First Position in School
Pinki aged 9 years lives in jhuggi no. 497, TC Camp Raghubir Nagar jhuggi, New Delhi. She studies in 5th std in nigam pratibha vidyalay. TC Camp Raghubir Nagar. Till March 2012 she was irregular in school and unable to do her home work properly. The reason: unsatisfactory level of teaching in her school. Her uneducated and poor parents neither can teach her nor pay Rs 500 monthly to a private tutor to improve her education level.
Now she is regular in school and is able to handle class assignments properly. Now she understands different subjects better. She has secured first position in annual exam of 4th std in her school. She wishes to pursue study at higher level.
In April, 2012 CSSAR motivated Pinki to join its remedial class. Since then she has been attending our remedial class.
