Success Story

Many new organisations in the country are in the process of setting up services for deafblind people. Many new organisations in the country are in the process of setting up services for deafblind people. All organisations feel a need of exposure & onsite training support to the running of such units. This need has therefore led Sense International (India) to initiate the “mentoring support’ in developing quality services for deafblind persons in the country.

With the support of our ‘Mentor’, educators/CBR workers of our partner organisations are provided with need-based guidance and support in training deafblind children in skills necessary for him/her to carry out day-to-day tasks with ease. After the specific problem solving of mentors, the educators could successfully revise the strategies which was evident as many children slowly started responding to the training.

Today, many deafblind children are more confident about their skills due to the mentors’ support to their educators. Children who used to be completely dependent have picked up daily living skills, mobility and communication skills very well and are learning to be self dependent. The parents and teachers are happy with the progress in the children and are confident that given proper training deafblind children will live an active life in the society.
