Success Story

Earlier teachers trained to work with single category disability were teaching children with Deafblindness but with incomplete understanding and input.

Earlier teachers trained to work with single category disability were teaching children with Deafblindness but with incomplete understanding and input. But after the teacher-training course was started, a cadre of trained teachers was developed for the needs-based education and rehabilitation of children with deafblindness.

The training will help the teachers to get acquainted with specific need areas and challenges faced by deafblind children, the nature of curriculum and the specialized method of teaching children with deafblindness in various settings like residential schools, day care centres, resource centres and centre/home based programmes.
In the last 9 years we have been able to develop more than 170 teacher trainees, who specialize in working with deafblind children and slowly deafblind children are being recognized in the country and the schools are opening their doors for education because there is support of qualified teachers.
