Success Story

Disturbed by her unsupportive family in Goa, shocked by an uncle who attempted to rape her, frightened by the prospect of being married off, and distraught by the onset of puberty, she fled from her home to Mumbai.

She built up a drug peddling business, concurrently developing her frightfully intense addiction. She married, but the couple split following the death of their first child

In 2005, Meena was not very keen on getting involved in rehabilitation again. But the medical services of Sankalp and counselling infused in her an eagerness to seek out recovery. The effort did not go unnoticed, her honesty and integrity was already an example to many of her counterparts at Sankalp and the Narcotics Anonymous groups.
Meena was appointed as a peer counselor for the female clients of Sankalp. It’s my duty now to inspire others to find their path to recovery. This is my life now, this is my goal. Of course there is also my family, my little son Armaan and my husband, a recovering addict himself, with a new life and new hope. Meena continues to motivate her peers to seek recovery. Taking 13 turbulent years of addiction in her stride,
