Success Story

Our students come from neighbouring slums with a majority of them beings girls who face a lot of opposition from the families. Our students come from neighbouring slums with a majority of them beings girls who face a lot of opposition from the families. The families do not allow the girls to join the courses or even work outside their homes. Most of the girls end up doing the household chores, get married early and become victims of domestic violence because of the husband being unemployed or a casual laborer and an alcoholic.

One of our Instructors, Vaishali Thambe, who teaches the beautician course at our Bandra center not only imparts the beautician skills to the girls but also motivates and counsel them in all aspects of their lives. She also interacts and counsels the parents/relatives of the students and try to change their mindset. The girls get a sense of belonging at the outreach centers with the Vaishali being their guardians. Vaishali also involves the girls on live projects that she gets outside the classroom like a wedding assignment, which gives a lot of confidence to the girls

With the constant guidance from Vaishali, the girls develop confidence and other social skills which empowers them to take up a job or become self employed. Many of them start work from home by opening up their own beauty parlors. Thus these directionless girls emerge as smart confident young women capable of supporting themselves, their families and contributing to the society.
