Provide food and medical expenses for a old, abandoned person for a month, INR 1800

Spurthi has identified 15 elderly people over 65 years of age who are leading miserable lives. Though they live with their family they are neglected. Neither are they provided with nutritious food nor are they provided with healthcare. Spurthi aims to give them a dignified life.

How It Works

• The organisation provides them with lunch and dinner every day
• The food is prepared by a cook at Spurthi's outlet and supplied to the beneficiaries at their home, located within a radius of 2-3 km from the centre.
• A volunteer from Spurthi takes them for a general health checkup once every month
• Spurthi purchases any medicines prescribed by the doctor
• If any beneficiary requires hospitalisation, the costs are borne by Spurthi

Home Away from Home
Chandrabai Tulajaram Kalal is pretty old aged and at 81 years is experiencing the real hard life of old age of an invalid person. She was in a stage that she needed assistance for every deed of hers. She was disturbed & helpless. But her home atmosphere was such that no one at home used to like her. Her son & daughter in law are treating her as burden to them & their family.
The staff of Spurthi Basamma brought Chandrabai Tulajaram Kalal to Spurthi & Chandrabai explained the whole matter to the Secretary of Spurthi. After long discussion with Chandrabai, Secretary of Spurthi called her son & talked about the same to him. He accepted to keep her & give her a dignified life with the amount which he would receive from Spurthi.
Chandrabai Tulajaram Kalal is satisfied that she is getting best care from her son during her old age. She is happy that she is with people who are there to take care of her in times of need. She is at peace. She feels that she is leading a dignified life which she ever dreamt for in her life time. She is leading a worthy life with respect in the society
