Success Story

Srilatha, an HIV positive girl, who lost her both parents stays with her grandparents and twin sister who is HIV negative.

Srilatha, an HIV positive girl, who lost her both parents stays with her grandparents and twin sister who is HIV negative. The sister used to work while Srilatha was enrolled in a hostel by the grandparents for her food and shelter. As Srilatha regularly suffered from opportunistic infections the hostel authorities got to know she had HIV and sent her back home. The girl has become a burden to the grandfather again

The girl was identified by the health worker of the village and details taken. There were heated discussions with the hostel authorities on expelling the girl because of her status. The hostel head learnt about the situation and assured us that Srilatha would be taken back in the hostel.
Srilatha is back at the hostel. She is determined to be well educated and become self reliant. The girl is stuying in Grade 6. She is receiving career guidance from SARDS and she in process of receiving relevant computer course.
